The Company of Merchant Adventurers has supported education in York for centuries.

The Company has championed charitable giving, apprenticeships and the promotion of learning, since the medieval period. Merchants trained young people through apprenticeships, created legacies to fund business start ups and were influential in the establishment of the York Chamber of Commence and the University of York.

The Education Trust

When it was created, the Company of Merchant Adventurers supported training apprentices, many of whom started successful businesses and become Merchant Adventurers themselves.

Today, its Education Trust supports business, enterprise and education, all of which provide opportunity for young people in York. The Company has created and oversees a range of charitable projects to deliver on its objectives to train, inspire and create futures for youngsters.
