The Hall offers an atmosphere you simply can’t recreate in a modern venue. From your first look to the last dance, you and your guests will celebrate in one of the finest surviving medieval guild halls in the world - right in the heart of historic York.

When you hire the Hall, you’ll enjoy exclusive use of the main spaces for your celebration, including the Great Hall for your ceremony and wedding breakfast and the atmospheric Undercroft for your evening reception and bar.

With the secluded walled garden just outside, you’ll also have a beautiful backdrop for photos, and pre-dinner drinks in the warmer months.

Viewings are by appointment only, so you can discuss your requirements with our team and see how the Hall can work for your plans.

Early booking of the Hall for your special day is recommended as it is a popular venue.

Catering to suit your celebration

Working with a panel of five trusted caterers, the Hall offers flexible dining options to match your style of celebration - from elegant, seated dinners in the Great Hall to more relaxed evening food in the Undercroft.

The wide range of menus on offer can be tailored to suit your tastes, ensuring your dining experience feels as individual as your day.

Drinks receptions can be hosted in the Hall or the walled garden, giving you the freedom to choose how you welcome and toast your guests.

Your caterer will also run your bar for those additional celebratory drinks on a evening.

To help with the planning of your special day, below is the Hall price for exclusive hire on a Saturday in 2027  (rates beyond 2027 may vary and will be confirmed on enquiry):

£4,995 (we do not charge VAT as we are a charity)
