Occupation and business:
Co-Founder/Production Director Brew York Ltd.
Describe what you do:
Describe what you do: I’m the co-founder of Brew York, an independent brewery and hospitality business based in York with two breweries and ten bars. I originally did a bit of everything, then progressed to Head Brewer, but now as Production Director I oversee production, distribution, sales, and marketing across the company. I still lead on recipe development and creative brewing projects, while also managing major CAPEX initiatives — most recently introducing nitrogen generation technology to reduce our carbon footprint and improve sustainability.
Why did you join the Company?
Initially, I was slightly hesitant about joining, as I wasn’t sure whether it would feel more like a traditional supper club or something overly ceremonial in nature. However, once I understood the Company’s progressive outlook and strong philanthropic focus, I was very keen to become involved. Since joining, it has introduced me to some of the most accomplished, engaging, and community-minded people across York’s business, education, ecclesiastical, and public service sectors.
Best thing about being a Member:
The best thing about being a member is undoubtedly the opportunity to meet and spend time with such a wide variety of people at the Company’s social occasions. Many members have achieved remarkable things and made contributions far beyond anything I could imagine, yet what continually strikes me is their humility and generosity in sharing their knowledge and experiences.
I also really appreciate the thought and organisation that goes into each event, particularly the effort made to ensure you are seated with different people each time. It means every occasion feels fresh and genuinely rewarding. I always come away having learned something new and looking forward to who I’ll meet next.
